  • How do I ollie even after two years of trying and never succeeding?

Posted by admin on February 6th, 2010 and filed under succeeding | 2 Comments »

For just over two years, I have not been able to accomplish a single ollie. Its very frustrating and i know that you put pressure, jump, push down on the tail, and then roll your foot yet it never works. the best i was able to do was shooting out the board and falling towards my back hand. I ride goofy if that helps. And i tried it both rolling and stationary

It takes a lot of practice, I didn’t learn to ollie til i was skating for at least 2 months non - stop. Now i can ollie off roofs, The main point or what i learned, Was hold onto a ledge or wall or something that you can hold onto, and Pop down the tail, Jump and slide your foot, Yet do it at the same time, Even if you don’t do it right or if you just hear the board pop and your doing all the motions right keep doing it and doing it, If you can’t ollie try doing other tricks to loosen up your feet, Tic Tacs, Acid Drops, I’d mainly suggest a pop shuv it or shuv it, Thats what made my feet loosen up and be able to do tricks,

what are my chances of getting into VCU, Virginia Commonwealth University with a 2.7 and a 1450 sat?

Posted by admin on January 30th, 2010 and filed under university of | 3 Comments »

I applied to vcu with a 2.6 gpa and a 2.77 weighted. i am currently a senior in high school waiting for the letter of acceptance or rejection. its been 7 weeks and i still havent heard a thing.

They could be still reviewing your application. You have a good chance of getting in. But know that your essay and what you told them about yourself helps them decide if they want someone like you attending there school. I got wait-listed but then accepted and they didn’t tell me until the middle of the summer after i had already accepted another school so just wait a few more weeks and they should have a letter to you by then, i hope you filled out for other schools for back-ups though….Good Luck and i hope you get in.

Enforced University Withdrawal, is it only for universities or is it for college as well?

Posted by admin on January 27th, 2010 and filed under university universities | 1 Comment »

Basically, when on academic probabtion and or warning the university watched your grades very closely. If you dont have satisfying marks the university will force you to withdraw for a year. You aren’t allowed to go to any universities during this period and so I was wondering if you can or can’t go to college as well during this period.

You should be able to, however if you have been "asked to withdraw" you should get in contact with your program adviser and ask them what the best thing to do, so that you can apply for reentry the next year.

How good of a university is the University of Illinois at Chicago, Is it a somewhat respectable University?

Posted by admin on January 27th, 2010 and filed under university of | 2 Comments »

Is it a good for premed and medical school

I heard it’s good. The name of the university only matters if you go to U of Chicago, Northwestern, Harvard or any Ivy League school. It’s easy to get into UIC but their classes are tough (from what I have heard).
I’m going there next year (Biology major) and I will be taking a lot of classes that pre-med students are taking since I need them for the program that I am applying.

What is the best university in ontario to go to for film studies?

Posted by admin on January 27th, 2010 and filed under go to university | 1 Comment »

i want to go into the film industry, and want to attend a university in ontario.
    which one would be best?
i have about an 82 average. i get at least an 80 in every class except for math- which is bringing my average down. im trying to get it back up though.
    thanks!

Ryerson. Here’s a link to their film studies program: http://www.ryerson.ca/undergraduate/admission/programs/imagearts.html

I don’t think you need Math for to study film at Ryerson or other universities in Ontario, but regardless, your grades are pretty good. Ryerson only requires a minimum overall average of 70%. But, keep in mind that these programs are still very competitive because they base a lot of their admissions on your portfolio. See the link above for more information about the portfolio.

I know a few people who are in Ryerson’s Photography and New Media programs, and they’re pretty happy with their decision to choose Ryerson over other places.

    Hope this helps.

What is the chance of someone getting into North Carolina State University?

Posted by admin on January 23rd, 2010 and filed under university of | 1 Comment »

If they have 1300 sat, 3.0 average , one year of student council, volunteer of two hours no record got letter from alumni for people to people, lead america

It will be tought because the average student at NC State makes about a 1600 SAT, & had a high schoolGPA of over 3.7. Although they accept almost 60% of applicants, it will be tougher to get in because of the low GPA & SAT scores in comparison to what NC State averages

How do you choose whether to go to university or college?

Posted by admin on January 23rd, 2010 and filed under go to university | 1 Comment »

I am in grade 10 and I still have no idea of what I wanna become. I keep changing my mind. Am I supposed to be sure around my age of what career I would want to pursue later on?

And if I have a 80-85% average, would it be better to go to university or college?

At the undergrad level, a 4 year college or university are essentially the same thing. A university is merely a collection of 2 or more colleges and generally offers more majors.

However, do not confuse college with community college.

Is the modern University system the most practical way to train professionals like Engineers, Accountants etc?

Posted by admin on January 23rd, 2010 and filed under university | 6 Comments »

Universities are expensive. It’s an ethical dilemna that we have to go into 150K of debt just to try to obtain the American dream.
Universities have a lot of requirements that have little to do with the jobs of accounting and engineering.
In the distant (maybe not so distant) past these jobs were trained through free apprenticeships, not university, and you didn’t have to start in 6 figures of debt just to try to obtain a middle class job.

I think you are correct in that the university system is not the best way to educate many professions including engineering and accounting. In Great Britain, medical doctors are trained for the medical profession right after high school (their equivalent) and omit the courses normally required in a liberal arts education or the first two years of a University in America. If I recall they spend four years in med. school followed by two years of internship and another year or two if they are in a specialty. Therefore, they can be out and practicing medicine after six years or 23 or 24 years old or 25 or 26 with a specialty. I think accountants and engineers should spend 2 years in a school or university and another 2 years as interns with a business. After this and passing an exam, they should be fully qualified (certificated engineer or chartered accountant). The same could be done for teachers, lawyers, and almost any profession. Your point is well taken and the system should be changed. Very good idea on your part.

Is University of Phoenix a good online school?

Posted by admin on January 21st, 2010 and filed under university of | 5 Comments »

I plan on starting college in 2009 to get a degree in business. I’m thinking about attending University of Phoenix online. Is this a good online school? I’m still deciding between University of Phoenix online and Liberty University online. Which school is better University of Phoenix or Liberty University?

There are tons of online programs. I personally attended American Intercontinental Univ. and Capella University, and have taught for various online schools including the University of Phoenix. All are accredited and solid programs. Online courses tend to vary in price, so we could say they are more expensive, but that is relative. Of course they are more expensive than a community college, but less expensive than Harvard. The price range varies.

The key is to find a program that is fully accredited. Is it worth it? YES. My career has boomed since my MBA at nearly 5 years ago. I am close to finishing my PhD through distance education, and I am at the job that I want. I know I wouldn’t be here without the education. If you are looking at work in the U.S., then you need a school that is accredited and recognized by the Dept of Ed. I can give more info on that later. Always check accreditation at the accrediting body and not the school’s site.

You should market yourself and not the degree or university. There are many traditional universities offering degrees that can be earned through online methods. Distance Learning Alliance has a list of these traditional online schools. Look at that if you are truly concerned with the name of the school. Good luck on your search!
