  • Enforced University Withdrawal, is it only for universities or is it for college as well?

Posted by admin on January 27th, 2010 and filed under university universities | 1 Comment »

Basically, when on academic probabtion and or warning the university watched your grades very closely. If you dont have satisfying marks the university will force you to withdraw for a year. You aren’t allowed to go to any universities during this period and so I was wondering if you can or can’t go to college as well during this period.

You should be able to, however if you have been "asked to withdraw" you should get in contact with your program adviser and ask them what the best thing to do, so that you can apply for reentry the next year.

Do prestigious universities take in account the university where you came from when pursuing a master’s degree?

Posted by admin on December 22nd, 2009 and filed under university universities | 1 Comment »

    I’m talking Oxford,Harvard,Princeton,Columbia,etc.

What if you had an undergraduate degree at a not so special university, do they care?

Your academic performance and the strength of the program are the two most important factors. This means that they want to see that you have done well in a program that will have adequately prepared you for you master’s degree. So the esteem of the school you attended overall does not play a huge role. How they judge the quality of the individual program you completed plays a much more important role. Some ivy’s, for instance, have individual programs that are weak. While a second tier school may have a very thorough program. So your application should highlight the fact that you got good grades in classes that provided preparation for the Master’s you are applying to receive. Hope that helps.

Is Clemson university among the top universities like Georgia Tech?

Posted by admin on November 4th, 2009 and filed under university universities | 1 Comment »

I would like to know the ranking of Clemson university. Is it a top university? Is it a private university? Is it among the top-graded universities? What about the placements? Please help. How do you compare Goergia Tech with Clemson ?Is the former a good university?

Clemson is a public, land-grant university. It has been ranked the 22nd-best public university in the country for 2 years in a row now (and I believe 61st best university overall?), so yes it’s an excellent school. It has an outstanding engineering program that is highly respected throughout the Southeast, in engineering hubs around the country (i.e. Washington DC, Washington State), and indeed nationwide. It is one of the harder schools to get into.

Georgia Tech is absolutely an excellent school as well and you would do well to be accepted by either institution. I think Georgia Tech probably has a better reputation than Clemson as an engineering school, but I suspect that’s because it has a huge focus on engineering itself while Clemson has a much broader set of majors in engineering, science, humanities, and the liberal arts.

    or in new york

Wayne State University in Detroit, MI

Which of these Ontario Universities has the best University experience?

    My choices are:

    Ryerson
    UOIT
    Guelph/Humber
    York
    Brock
    Maybe UofT

If I go to Brock or UOIT I would have to Live in residence, so which of these Universities is the best for meeting cool people, parties, etc?

Ryerson isn’t a real university. Unless you’re going for a specific program (usually tech-related), I’d pass. Same goes for UOIT.

York has a reputation for being English-as-a-second-language. Not a whole lot of palefaces. I don’t know if that’s an issue for you or not. Some people are cool with it. Some would hate it.

I have a family member at Brock, living in residence, and he hates it. He says the people are boring, they’re all hicks, the frosh week was pathetic and there aren’t any parties. To be fair, he’s pretty boring, so it might just be him. But I’d be cautious about it.

I’ve heard good things about Guelph, but it also tends to attract a rural crowd. The phrase "cow college" has been tossed around a few times. But the people who go tend to have fun.

U of T is hate-it-or-love-it. Huge university and classes, no real campus, lots of people speaking lots of languages and just doing their own thing. Some people love it. I had a roommate who spent his freshman year at U of T and hated it. He transferred to Western (where I went) and had a great time. He was ridiculously cool. Everybody loved him. The fact that he couldn’t make friends at U of T bothers me. I’d have to recommend against it as well.

The best party schools, by reputation, are Western, Laurier, and probably Carleton. I know a lot of people who went to each of them. They were all cool and they all had an amazing time. I’m not really sure why they aren’t on your list (maybe distance, maybe courses, maybe marks) but I’d recommend giving them a second look. Queens likes to think it’s a party school- it’s not, it’s full of ***holes.

Wherever you go, as long as you’re cool, you’ll meet people and have a good time. There are people who went to and loved every single school in Ontario. Even Windsor. And the random group of people who wind up living on your floor will have way more influence on your experience than almost any other factor, and that’s impossible to predict.

    Good luck.

What are the top American universities for college/university football?

Posted by admin on October 6th, 2009 and filed under university universities | 1 Comment »

    Hi guys

Ive recently been accepted by an agency to study abroad in America on a soccer scholarship. I am lucky enough to be 1 of only 400 people to be given this chance and of course I want to make the most of it. Therefore I am really taking time out to look at various Universities that I could attend. Does anyone have any experience of studying in America on a scholarship … or even having attended a university in the states? Or simply if you’ve visited various places and have been really impressed your help and guidance would my very much appreciated.

    Tom

Remember that soccer and football aren’t the same thing in the US! You want a top school for soccer, not necessarily for football. The top schools last year with Maryland, North Carolina, St. John’s, and Wake Forest, or at least those were the teams to make it into the NCAA Division I Men’s Finals.

Which Florida Universities have the best psychology programs?

Posted by admin on October 1st, 2009 and filed under university universities | 1 Comment »

I am looking into what colleges I may attend and, although most of the universities I am looking at are in the northeast where I am from, Florida has caught my attention big time. Some Florida universities I am interested in are:
    Florida Atlantic University
    Nova Southeastern University
    University of Central Florida
    and University of South Florida

that is my list, but other suggestions are welcomed.

Gainesville (U of F) or Tallahassee (FSU). Either one of these in my opinion are the best. No beaches, though.

Edit: Basing my opinion on fact that above 2 universities are the most established and best known. More students enrolled = more classes and more money for the schools, better course selection. I am curious as to why you would not chose to go to a state university in your own state. You are going to be paying quite a bit more being a non-resident.
