I am not sure about which what post-graduate university I want to attend. I want to know if there are any good programs in Psychology that are both reputable and of high quality. Experiences that change my viewpoint (paradigm shifts) preferred.
It doesn’t matter what size the university is, the cost, or the location, though I do have preferences. If possible, though, I"d like to live at home to cut down on residence fees here in Toronto.
Any suggestions?
University of Toronto is not bad. Especially at the Scarborough Campus, if you can get into the Co-op program for Psychology then that’s really good because it is hard to get jobs with a psych undergrad these days, so having some "connections" would help you a lot.
Another place known for psychology is McGill. But that is really far away…
York also has a good psychology program I hear, but the name of "York" might refrain you.
Also, do you get the chance to do internships in syracuse university ? Because I know BU is highly recommended for internships.
Thanks in advance!
There are internships at both universities. I’ve met Syracuse grads, but I haven’t met BU grads yet… but likely that’s because I live in PA, not in the North east. BU has a good reputation as well… so you’d probably do well at either. Visit both campuses and get a vibe for the departments. Then go to the one that feels right for you.
Let me give you an example, when visiting med schools, my girlfriend visited Johns Hopkins, which is often ranked in the top 5, but she got a feeling it was really cut-throat when she visited there, and chose to go elsewhere for med school. I’m sure she’d of been a successful doctor either way, but she was successful where she went, and really liked her program.
I graduated from Calcutta university 8 years back and now I am applying for Masters progran in US and the university requires transcripts in envelopes sealed by the issuing institutions. Copies, opened or unsealed envelopes, unofficial printouts, or facsimiles will not be accepted. I am not sure how to get that and if there is any fast way.
contact the school’s registar … they will be able to send you sealed official transcripts ….and usually they will be willing to send them right to the school that wants them…..

I’m applying to university this year and am seriously considering sending in applications to several universities overseas.
However, the few that I have in mind aren’t very well known where I reside, and I’m concerned that post graduation this may create some problems for me when the time comes for me to establish a career.
So my question to you is: do you think that if I were to attend a more ‘unknown’ university overseas, would it have much of an impact on me when trying to establish a career in my native country?
Thanks for the help and advice!

I would like to know what collage/university has really good courses to major in psychology and get a masters or phD.
Also I would like it to be near Canada, or the US.
I am attending the University of Missouri-Columbia - it’s a very well known university "MIZZOU" and a Big 12 university. I am majoring in psychology and it’s a really great program. They offer a lot of research opportunities, as well. www.missouri.edu You should definitely consider it!
I need to transfer one additional credit to my home university (a normal course is 3 credits at my university). I need to transfer this credit by early May. I am actually able to take any course I would like.
I am wondering if anyone would know of any short-term online courses with credit which I could start at anytime and finish within a few weeks?
LSU (Louisiana State University) online. It’s 4 year university. I just registered for couple of classes there and I could start as soon as my books arrive. It’s 250 dollars to enroll for one class not including the books money and the fee you pay for people to proctor your exams.
I was wondering what is the best university in canada to study psychology. Is UBC a good university for psycology? And what are the best programs to study in UBC?
yea UBC is good, Dalhousie University in Halifax is also good.
Is Western Washington university a good choice? How about University of Puget Sound or Evergreen? I don’t really want to go to UW or WSU. Any suggestions or ideas?
Of the choices you listed go WWU.
UPS is hit and miss, and Evergreen will just make you disillusioned after you graduate.
